UNDAF is the planning framework for the development operations of the UN system at country level. It consists of common objectives and strategies of co-operation, aprogramme resources framework and proposals for follo-up, monitoring and evaluation. Government; UN funds programmes and specialized agencies; regional commissions; Bretton Woods; humanitarian organizations; civil society UNDAF, both as aprocess and a product is based on the CCA and is linked with a number of other key instruments of development co-operation, employed by UN system and other partners. The UNDAF gives renewed impetus to the role of development operations in advancing the core missions of the UN system and promoting the vision and principles of the UN Charter. To this end, it aims for greater impact of UN system co-operation on development and well-being of the people. back
The UNDAF serves as the common frame of reference for the strategy and country programme documents (or other similar instruments), as well as any joint programme documents, used by participating UN system organizations for development co-operation at country level. The UNDAF has the same duration as the harmonized programme cycles of the UN system, which should be synchronized, whenever possible, with the national development cycle. |
